The value I have of therapy comes from my own personal experience of working with a therapist. I have many memories of silently struggling through my middle school, high school, and college years. Without anyone recognizing it, I gradually developed very low self-esteem, lost my confidence, and became a constant critic of myself. I experienced frequent stomach aches which I later learned was one of my body's responses to the anxiety and stress I was having. Eventually, I began my life-changing journey in therapy.
Therapy gave me exactly what we ALL need at times in life: a safe space to talk about our distress, to feel fully seen and heard without judgement, empathy and compassion, honest and direct feedback, insight and self-awareness (I learned SO MUCH about myself!), and tools and resources to help manage life stressors.
That time and commitment to my own healing not only helped me develop a stronger sense of self– it sparked a deep passion of becoming a provider of therapy.
This ultimately led me to pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling at Oakland University and becoming a fully Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan. My love of learning continues and I continue to keep adding to my knowledge, training, and collection of books!!
Lastly, some of my favorite things are spending time with my husband and two children (13yo daughter and 11yo son), playing with my dog, reading, taking walks outside, traveling/vacationing, and having time to connect with my friends!
