Individuals
Some of the most common themes among the individuals I serve are feelings of sadness, insecurity and self-doubt, loneliness, easily stressed out, burnt out, stuck, worries often and about a number of different things, difficulty navigating a life transition, struggling in relationships with friends/family/significant others, difficulty setting boundaries with others, experiencing negative impacts in life due to past trauma, and looking for solutions to feel better about themselves and specific situations in their life.
My Approach
I use an eclectic approach with clients that is holistic in nature. We are of multiple dimensions. So in order for me to truly be informed enough to help you I look at all dimensions that may have an impact on your reason(s) for pursuing therapy. Some of what I utilize, when I feel it is appropriate and beneficial, include psychoeducation (including human development and developmental psychopathology, neuroscience, and interpersonal neurobiology), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems techniques, Polyvagal Theory exercises, Psychodynamic Therapy, communication skills, relationship skills, problem-solving, and more. It just all depends on what you are needing, your openness to perspectives, and what connects with you most.
Sounding Good?
If you think I could be what you are looking for, you can contact me via phone or email. After we discuss identify whether my availability will meet your scheduling needs, we will schedule the initial appointment. Again, this can be done via phone or email. I will then send you, via email, a link to my client portal where you will be able to read, complete, and/or sign, any necessary documents or questionnaires necessary before the appointment.
What happens during the first session?
My focus is to get an accurate understanding of what your reason(s) for pursuing therapy and how it is impacting your life. When I feel like I have a good enough grasp of things, we will move on to identifying specific intentions (goals) you have for therapy. So start thinking about “What do I want out of this?”. This first session, in-person or virtual, is an opportunity for you to pay attention to how you are feeling while we talk so you can decide if you think you would like to continue moving forward with me. If you feel I am not the right fit for you, please feel free to share that concern and if needed, I am happy to provide some referrals.
